Review by Nancy "Stepfordmomto2" : No Sticky Residue 5 Star

I must be one of those weird people that like to clean my house - so whenever there is a new product on the market that will help me to keep a clean abode; I want to check it out.I have always been curious about the floor steamers. How exactly can they do what they say they can, and more importantly, how can you prove it? We are not taking swabs of our floors before and after we clean them and sending them to scientific labs for evaluations, so we have to take the word of the institution peddling the product. So, as we can tell I am a skeptic when it comes to hype, so let's get down to "does my floor appear clean" -yes. Was the machine easy to use - surprisingly yes. I thought that the idea of having to pull out a machine, fill this canister with water, that canister with cleaning solution, then wait about 5 minutes to get the steaming action going was going to be a problem. But none at all. What I love the most about this system is that fact that there is no sticky residue. Whenever you mop, no matter what cleaner you use a sticky feel remains and seem to collect anything that blows by. Not so with this machine, it has been a week now and my floors look as clean as they did last weekend after I had used the machine for the first time. Plus, the extra bonus of multiple cleaning pads that you can throw into the washer. How can you go wrong? The canister was easy to assemble and just as easy to store. No bulky mess. I am not rushing to throw away my mop, but I do know that this canister steamer is going to be my go-to for the foreseeable future.I have been using mine on tile floors. It is recommended for sealed wood floors, so I do not now if it would work on the popular laminate flooring. I did not see any comment in the booklet, so you may have to call Hoover for clarification on this matter. But over all, definitely a keeper.

Review by SZAA "Lover of All Things Written" : A fantastic cleaning tool! 4 Star

We've had the steam cleaner system for about a month and I'm in love! The handheld attachment is worth the price of the machine alone in my opinion. We've used it to clean so many different things, from the grout on our tile floor to a spot on a mattress and my favorite: all of the baseboards and chair rails in our house. The steam comes out super hot and so forceful that dirt and dust disappear. We follow the steam with a quick wipe of a rag and a whole room of baseboards were clean in 10 minutes. Fabulous! I love that the machine works with or without the cleaner. It's nice to use the cleaner on the floors, but I didn't want to have to use it on my mattress or when we steam our clothing. Definite plus. We did have a couple of small cons: -Definitely doesn't make for efficient storage. The long handle is supposed to attach to the canister and it does, but not very well and it's constantly falling out. It's also fairly bulky and takes up a good amount of room. -Long handle feels like cheap plastic and when scrubbing at the floor, it almost feels like it could break. Other than those, we really do love this and would recommend it to anyone looking for a great multipurpose tool.

Review by Danny Yu : Hoover Steam Cleaner useful with many features, but with some flaws 4 Star

Upon arrival, The pieces that were used for the construction of the Hoover Canister Steam Cleaner is sturdy and of high quality. It certainly has that "feel" and look of an expensive and quality cleaning system. The good: - Comes with a good supply of attachable tools, including 3 microfiber pads, corner and grout cleaning tools, disinfectant, and many more! The attachments included total up to 10 separate pieces. The accessories that come with this product covers a lot of different surfaces, floors, windows, carpet, and even clothes. - This product gives me a feeling that Hoover paid great immense attention to detail. You'll find that many components of the steam cleaner are detailed and refined, making not just your ordinary steam cleaner. For example, the many accessories are of high detail because of the specific uses listed above. There's a 360 degree rolling wheels on the canister for portability, steam control dial, two tank system, allowing you separate disinfectant from water, microfiber pads that cover edges, cooling tray, sturdy and easy to use extension arms, hose handle with clean control dial, among other characteristics. - It simply works! Just using the power of hot steam, the floors, bathroom, sinks in our home had horrible stains but this steam cleaner easily removed the stains and dirtiness. The disinfectant feature is a nice addition and so far it's going well. You can bet that this will do what it's intended to do. Our house feels fresher with the use of this Steam cleaner. Our house definitely was cleaner with the hot steam and occasional use of disinfectant, but there were some minor flaws. Some things to watch out for: - It gets very hot. The handle, tubes, canister, everything is just quite warm. Yes, we're expecting it to be a little warm, but I felt that it was a hazard having to move the canister forward or backward with our hands. The canister has a little handle, but that too is very hot. I'd wish Hoover had added another handle on the tubing that connects the canister to the top handle. Also, the tubing that connects the canister to the handle could be intrusive. The tube hangs on the hip, depending on which side you chose to use the steam cleaner. Definitely don't want a youngster messing around with this. - There isn't a way to determine how much water is left in the steam canister. There's no meter and the canister is not see thru. However, the canister an hold up to 37 ounces of water, which is quite a lot. You can probably just wiggle the canister around to check. Not a huge problem though. - There's a little inconvenience regarding the steam control dial. It's located on the canister, with a range from low to high. I found it extremely inconvenient to bend down and stop what I was doing every time I wanted to change the steam. It would have been better if it was placed on the handle, closer to the reach of the hand. All in all, this is still quite the complete steam cleaner. It cleans tough stains, soft stains, hardwood, carpet, clothes, essentially almost anything you can do think of. It does the cleaning extremely well, but also with some inconvenient flaws. If you keep that in mind, you'll be very pleased with this cleaner. Great all-purpose steam cleaner.

Review by Between the Lines "J. Morrill" : Tossing Out My Shark and Keeping the Hoover 5 Star

I was so excited for this to come I nearly knocked over the UPS man at my door.I got it out and assembled it and immediately went to work. I already own the Shark that has the vacuum attached but one of my biggest complaint with it is how one-dimensional it is. I can clean the floor, but still have to get down on my hands and knees to get the corners and any hard to miss spots.First I tried it as a steam mop. It was really easier to push around and use than the Shark. I liked how the little canister moved around easily behind me. Because of this, it is easier to push around. I also liked the addition of a cleaning solution. With the Shark, I never really felt like it was actually disinfecting my floors so I would spray Lysol and then steam over it. This one has a cleaning solution chamber built right in. The one thing I didn't like about it was how much wetter it was than the Shark when you were done mopping. It seemed soaking wet. After adjusting the controls a bit, and setting the steam control to low, it was much better. Then i started the accessories. I got out one of the scrapers and tried it on a spot where my daughter had splattered Ketchup 2 days prior. I thought I had gotten it all, but alas, no. I had tried it yesterday with a cloth and cleaner, but it was stubborn and I decided to wait until today and try the steamer on it. It came of on the first pass. No scrubbing required. Impressive.Next I tried the grout tools. I was horrified when I started scrubbing away at the amount of dirt that came off of a surface I thought was clean. Wow, is all I can say. Then I tried the clothing steamer/window squeegee. As a clothes steamer it was ok. You have to be careful and allow it to steam away from your clothing at first. I didn't and the first press of the trigger surprised me with a stream of hot water....right on my clothes. It worked, but not as good as dedicated clothing/fabric steamer. I then tried it on my windows and wasn't impressed. I suppose if I had it out I might use it, but I really think window cleaner and a cloth works better.I didn't try the carpet attachment...and I am skeptical of it. I don't see how great it can be without sucking up the nastiness. I will try it at some time and add to my review at a later date. I had 3 kids and 3 dogs running around and it wasn't the time to get my floor wet experimentally. :)Overall, very impressed. I will be using this instead of the Shark from now on.Now....if they could just invent one that pushes itself around....

Review by KBS : So Far So Good - Consider This One Over A Shark Canister! 4 Star

I decided to purchase this steamer after my second Shark canister died within a two year period. I thought it was time to try something new and thought that I could at least obtain service for this unit if something happened to it. With the Shark, it was toss it in the trash after only a year on each one, as no local repair shop would touch it. They basically told me they were disposable units. Pros: I love how long the cord is and that I don't have to unplug it multiple times to do all my hard surface floors. The cord also has nice flexibility in it and I hope it won't short out, which is what happened with both of my Shark canisters. The unit is also very compact and easy to maneuver. It has plenty of steam for all my hard floors without having to refill it. It works well on all surfaces, although if I fill it too full, it tends to leave a little too much water residue and can leave streaks. To remedy this, I am careful to not overfill it before using it. Another bonus to this machine is that it allows me to choose how much steam I use. It can be turned up or down based upon the job it is performing. The Hoover has several additional attachments for other uses, but my primary reason for purchasing it is for steam cleaning my floors. Once I have a chance to use it for other purposes, I will probably come back and update my review, especially if I find that it works exceptionally well or not for other purposes. I plan on using it to steam clean my tile and porcelain surfaces in the bathroom, but just haven't tried it there yet, as well as to clean my walls on a yearly basis. It only came with one mop head and I did have a mechanical issue with the first one I received, but Amazon was great in issuing me a replacement before I even had the chance to return the first one. No problems with the second one at all. When I received the replacement, I found that I was supposed to have received two mop heads, as that is what came with the second one. I was concerned that two would not be enough, as with the Shark I had to use at least two mop heads each week to get my floors clean. Not so with the Hoover. In fact, my floors squeak they are so clean now. This is a first. The mop head washes up very nicely and comes cleaner than the heads with the Shark Cons: The biggest negative for me is that you HAVE to hold the steam trigger down at all times. The trigger can be locked in the "off" position, but not in the "on" position. I'm getting a little more used to this feature, but at first I really struggled with having to hold it down all the time. It just seems to me that if there is an on/off switch, it should work in both positions. I don't know if I will ever use the unit to "freshen" my carpets, as I prefer to actually use an extractor to get the carpets clean. I also doubt I will use the disinfectant that comes with it, at least for my floors. I have pets and feel that the steam itself is sufficient to sanitize the floors, without exposing them to chemicals that may not necessarily be good for them. Well, that sums it up for what I have discovered about the Hoover thus far. I've had it for about two months now and have been quite happy with it. I thought I would at least share my experiences to date, as it is a new product and I could find few reviews to help me with my decision-making on what to buy. I hope this helps you with yours.

Review by B. Colonna : Decent cleaner....nothing to get steamed over. 3 Star

Before I delve into a full review of this product, please note: This IS NOT a water extraction type of cleaner. It is a steam unit, but does not have any capability to collect water or vacuum anything. That said, overall I like this steam cleaner. What's in the box?* The WH20300 canister cleaner with 12 amp motor.* Three part extension wand/handle.* On-Board attachments: Window Squeegee, Corner/Grout Cleaning Tool, Right Angle Nozzle, "Turbo" Nozzle Extension, Scraping Tool, Garment Steaming Tool, Garment Steamer Cloth, Nylon Scrub Brushes (2), Brass Scrub Brush.* Mop head and Carpet Glider.* Microfiber floor pads (3),* 8 ounce bottle of Hoover Multi-Purpose Disinfectant.* Measuring cup.* Collapsible Funnel.* Cooling Tray.* Product Manual.Use of the steam cleaner is pretty straightforward. First you snap in the hose on the unit's steam port. Then you fill the water tank with up to 37 ounces of water. The included measuring cup holds 18.5 ounces so this takes two trips. Next, if desired, add Hoover disinfecting solution to the small tank on the cleaner's handle. Then just plug the unit into a grounded outlet and turn on the power. A blue light on top of the unit will come on. Once the cleaner has heated up (about 5 minutes), a green light comes on to indicate that the unit is ready to produce stream. From there, you attach the desired attachments for your cleaning job and adjust the steam output from the knob on top of the unit. The product is very compact and all on-board tools store easily under two translucent plastic covers on the sides of the canister. However, some of the other tools, wand, etc. are larger so plan on keeping the box or coming up with another place to store these. The unit is about 15 pound with water in it, so it is not too cumbersome to move around, and the power cord is 30 feet long to give you plenty of room to move away from your electrical source. However, the hose is only about 6 feet though, so depending on how you are holding the wand, the area to be cleaned, etc. you may find you can get about 6-10 feet from the canister, so may have to carry the canister around a bit to complete larger jobs. Not a huge deal, but worth noting in case anyone sees the power cord is 30 feet and assumes that is how far away from the canister you can clean with the wand.As far as cleaning, the unit produces good steam and the attachments allow you to focus the steam for various cleaning tasks. So, anything steam will typically clean in a residential setting, this unit will handle. It did a decent job on my grout and also on an upholstered ottoman and chairs I tried it on.On the downside, it does seem to spit out a good deal of water, so I would find it better suited to clean hard surfaces where any residual water can be easily wiped up. On any fabric, prepare for it to get anywhere from damp to very wet. Hoover advertises that this product can be used on carpet. I wouldn't, only because since it doesn't extract/vacuum, at best it would "refresh" the carpet with steam. To truly clean a carpet, if you are using anything with water, you need to have some kind of extraction involved. I did use this on my minvan interior and it did a nice job freshening it up and loosening some ground in soil on the carpeted mats, etc. Some of the parts do get warm to the touch - this is producing steam, after all! - but not supper hot, and the water cap on the tank has a pressure lock built in, so it will not disengage until the steam cools and the pressure dies down.Hoover includes a two year warranty on this product. To me, that is good, especially since I haven't had good luck with Hoover quality in the past. All in all, I think this is a useful product, again, more so on hard surfaces. If most of your steaming tasks would be hand-held (counters, range tops, backsplash, etc.) you might prefer a handheld unit. If you intend to do steam cleaning on floors and/or floor grout, the WH20300 may be for you.

Review by S. Baxter : Fantastic! 5 Star

Received this product in the mail yesterday (5 days earlier than promised) Have been testing it out since...I know it sounds funny to be up half the night playing with a cleaning tool, but I was curious to see what it would and wouldn't do.While there is no such thing as the "perfect" cleaning tool, this one suits my needs very well. Our home has a lot of hard floor (ceramic and vinyl tile)as well as small children and pets, so keeping grout clean and stickiness up off the floor is difficult at best. Frankly if I used this steamer for nothing else, the grout cleaning is worth the price!! Anything that can get old gum off of sanded grout in seconds(!) counts as amazing in my book, also love that i do not have to get down on my hands and (bad) knees to do it!It wont clean everything, no luck with burned stuff on stovetop, still working out what works best with walls, but love the onboard attachments and the adjustable hose length. Hose does get hot! Not burning hot but uncomfortable hot, so be careful, and so far this is NOT a "dry" cleaning mehtod, the floors are still wet after mopping esp. the very bad spots. But overall an excellent value for the money

Review by ut158 : Nice to know it's clean 5 Star

I already own a Hoover carpet washer (similar to this model: Hoover SteamVac Carpet Cleaner with Clean Surge, F5914-900) and I love it. If you have kids, you need one. I don't know how I made it so far through my first kid without it. Anyway, that one is more about dumping water and then sucking it up with the hope that any dirt or whatever is coming up with the water. That works great, but this is a different idea. Rather than using a bunch of water, this uses steam. Since the amount of water going down isn't all that much and since it is hot enough to at least partially evaporate, there isn't a large need to suck it back up. This has more to do with sterilizing rather than lifting dirt. When used together, you enter a whole new world of clean. Case in point, my 2 year old was sitting on a fabric chair recently and her diaper leaked. My chair was was both very stinky and had some rather unpleasant... streaks on it. I used the aforementioned SteamVac first to get up whatever I could. That did a very good job, but even after spraying some Lysol on the chair, I didn't feel like it was clean--I didn't want to go sitting on it! So next I broke out this steamer. I added the included disinfectant and turned the steam level all the way up. I then used copious amounts of steam from this injected in as deep as I could get it to go. Normally when you use this, you are supposed to just go over it once or twice, but I was focusing and so the area got quite wet. While continuing to inject as much steam as possible, I followed up with the other vacuum to suck it out. I think the heat from the steam helped the fibers relax or something because when I was done, the chair was beautiful! After letting it air dry for a couple hours, it was as good as new. I now happily sit on that chair without worrying that anything has been left behind. I also used this steamer with a brush attachment to clean the mold/mildew that has stubbornly attached itself to my shower ceiling. It worked very well, although I did get a few drops of hot water that dripped on my arms and that didn't feel great, but the results are superb. While I was there, I cleaned the grout and that worked very well, too! I'm very happy with this steamer. I would certainly recommend it to anyone with difficult-to-clean applications. If I had to choose between this and the SteamVac, I'd go with the SteamVac ...but really, it's more apples and oranges than you may think. They really are 2 different products for different applications and quite frankly, I would recommend both.

Review by MIREDMARO : LOVE THE HOOVER 5 Star

I purchased the Hoover enhanced clean disinfecting canister team cleaner. It has replaced my housekeeper. It cleaned my grout back to the original color with little effort. My hard wood floors are spotless. I cleaned my granite, shower walls, and everything I could find to clean. It's light weight and easy to maneuver. The cord is long enough that I plugged it in in the center of the downstairs and was able to clean the whole floor without moving the cord.

Review by aNoNYmOus AuTHor : Spectacular Steamer 5 Star

This steamer makes cleaning for my two roommates and me an ease! Even with the toughest and most extreme messes. When cleaning the kitchen or the bathroom, it beats the mop. The floors don't just look cleaner, they are disinfected too. I found out just how helpful the attachments can be. When cleaning the bottom of the stove, it cut my cleaning time in half! After my roommates and I allow several Tony's pizzas to either burn to the grates or the cheese melts and builds up on the bottom, the scraping tool attachment along with the machines' capability to produce pressurized steam worked like a charm! All we had to do was wipe away the mess. Overall this is a great product and every time I clean it seems to take place of another cleaning tool. The other great thing is that it is easy and a blast to use. Before we used to argue with each other about whose turn it is to clean. Now we all clean together and get done with our weekly cleaning in half the time. This allows us to spend the majority of the day playing call of duty.

Review by Bay Gibbons : Great for the home 5 Star

This steam cleaner is an excellent way to clean the floors in your home. I used mine to clean my all-tile floors and it left them so clean. It is easy and quick to use. I like that you can use it with just steam for a quick clean-up, or by using the included disinfecting cleaner to get your floors really clean and kill germs and bacteria. It also hardly takes up any room to store. This is a great product!.

Review by Wordup "Wordup2you" : Nice steam...cheap construction on attachement 3 Star

It's a nice package and has a nice design. Too bad the materials and connectors are so cheap. I have already had the connector spring connections pop off on the first time of using the product. The wand that attaches to the floor attachement is designed really poorly. If the 3 part wand/floor attachement portion of the device wasn't so cheap and poorly made it would be a much nicer product. Make it right..charge us an extra 2 dollars so the connectors actually will stand up to more than one use..

Review by rsoonsa : The More We Use It, The Better We Like It. 4 Star

Overall, this steam cleaner has been a pleasant surprise. Our first effort was upon carpets, and without extraction capability, it freshened only, without seeming to clean very well. Subsequent usage in bathrooms was a different story, as it does a nice job in showers and tubs as well as tile floors. Indeed, any hard surface is its natural target. Experimentation with mirrors, stove and oven, and furniture fabric was less satisfactory. However, more attempts will be made, as it does seem to clean everything somewhat. It comes with a long (30 ft.) cord, and is very light as well as easily maneuverable. Its fiber pads are machine washable. Assembly is rather simple, and the attached casters and long cord enable it to be moved with no problem throughout the house. Although the canister becomes uncomfortably hot to handle, the cleaner is very effective for hard surface soil removal, and repeated utilization of the machine promises to bring increasingly good results..
